INTERVENTION STATEMENT

My satellite project intervenes with the overall development of One More Voice in the way that it provides more information regarding Emily Pauline Johnson as a whole. It feels like One More Voice focuses on her works more than a biography about her. My satellite project is a more in depth exploration of the work and lifetime of Johnson. My project also highlights indigenous peoples experiences and makes the reader reflect on their journeys but also an opportunity to learn more about cultures that Emily was a part of while getting the chance to get educated on a topic beyond Johnson herself. I feel like this is not highlighted in One More Voice as it is merely a collection of work with users having to fill in the blanks about specific authors. Which is why I feel that all of our satellite projects are important to users of One More Voice, to give them a better understanding of these authors as a whole.

As far as shortcomings I have noticed, besides the few that I feel like are improved upon with our satellite projects, I would have loved to see One More Voice have more of these categories to them. Maybe even a place to access past satellite projects. I wish that I could see the connections between authors as a whole as well. Since we focused on the interconnectivity of our authors throughout this course. I also think that a shortcoming of one more voice lies in no common landing page for each subsection of the website. When hover over the main tabs of the page it doesn't take you to a landing page that hosts all the information for the tab. I think that this would make it easier for users to navigate throughout the site as a whole. I feel that my project may only address the issues previously mentioned about information as a whole on the website and the extent of information available for each author that is featured. I think that it is important to also address that the more that is added to the page can cause slower access but also make the site harder to navigate if there is too much. I think that adding information also presents challenges in itself. I think linking to our external satellite projects can add value to the website without taking away from the site at its core.
